recomendations for a used class a for fulltiming
My wife and I are starting the process of looking for a used class A diesel pusher for full timing. We would like something in the 34 to 38 ft range, preferably in the 2000 to 2006 age range, and the price range of around $100,000.00 what i would like is some advice or the experiences that anyone has had with their brand of motorhomes. We are in no hurry to purchase as we can wait 5 years or retire tomorrow if we wish. also location of possible purchases anywhere in the US is no problem, and any possible candidate we will have completly checked out by an independate rv mechanic. We have a 2003 Fleetwood Expedition 38N and love it. It is a triple slide with a 300 hp Cummins. It has a washer/Dryer dishwasher, along with all the amenities.. IMHO it would make a very good choice for fulltiming.

The years and the $$ you have stated brings in some very nice American Coach's. A little longer length won't hurt for the quality you would receive. JMHO

Check out the local tax situation so you won't be blind sided as I was. That first $600+ personal property tax bill was a shocker. Not that it will change anything on your purchase but may eliminate surprises. I had checked out the state sales tax but Personal Property Taxes are different depending which Virginia county you live in. That is what I failed to check into.

Also check state tag fees. Mine are $1,300.00 year...and being from Michigan I currently put it into storage 6 months a year.....OUCH

In 1999 our 2 year old '98 gas Santara (new 98,000) cost us $2,400 to license for ONE year. Now our 2002 DSDP (new 211,700) cost us over $140 to license. Gotta love the referendums that lower license fees! Of course then there's the sales/use tax of almost 9%, but on trades ins it's only on the difference in cost.

Wow. Mine was 351,000 new in 95. But for what I bought the Beaver Marquis for its hard to swallow

Checkout Used RVs, Motorhomes for Sale, and Consigned sales - PPL Motor Homes they are one of the largest sellers of used MotorHomes in the country. They show floor plans too. Checkout both gas and diesel to see what you can get for your money.

Floorplan is king. Think about how you would actually use the coach. If you enjoy watching TV and stuff, you might not want a layout where the TV is up front and your couches run laterally along the sides of the coach, for example. If you enjoy cooking then countertop space will be important. Everyone has different priorities and there's nothing wrong with any of them!

In the year range you are looking for I think the Ultimate series by Winnebago has a lot to offer. They made a 36' DP in the Ultimate series.

From a gas coach owner, if I were looking for a DP for full timing I would try to find a nice clean Travel Supreme. As another mentioned, most important is a comfortable livable floor plan that will suit your needs.

A mid to late '90's Country Coach Affinity or Magna would a much better buy than a newer inferior coach.

Yep, a lot of the older rigs were way overpriced when new. New production methods and higher production brought prices down but still kept the quality high.
