I don't mess with it. I use a Customs Broker. A good one. Costs only a couple of hundred for piece of mind. They deal directly with the US party with the coach. All paperwork is sitting for me at the crossing. They tell me what I need to do. Seamless.
To me, it's worth every penny.
I use Summit Customs Brokers in BC.
What is there to mess with? Can't get much simpler if you follow tips. Rather have couple hundred in my pocket than theirs but that is just me.
