many owners considered "replaced with a residential refrigerator" as the best mod. That really tells something.

Yeah.. My (literal) rocket scientist friend that builds passive satellite cooling systems pointed that out. Apparently they aren't allot different than these, cept Norcold doesn't build them. He just installed one of these in his Monaco. Still safer than the OEM

Replaced cooling coils in my Dometic several years ago. Pretty straight forward. Took fridge out of the opening, but worked on it inside the rv. Took me one full day. Has worked great for the past almost 7 years.

Just like any other worn out appliance. Unhook, pull out, and replace. I had my new one delivered to my front door by amazon for a great price.
No reason to reinvent the wheel

I have the JC refrigeration unit (Ahmish cooling unit) --- three years experience.
I have found the unit reliable and better than the original.
Often dry camp for 7 days at a time with NO SOLAR.
Keep generator usage to roughly 1 hour per day -- max 2 hours a day.
Use 120V power for laptops and such.
Have 4 regular original style 6V lead acid batteries.
We do have condensation inside the frig and probably door seal issues.
The JC refrigeration unit will overcome that issue up to about 90 degrees outside temp.
thx Dale

so you toss out an otherwise perfect fridge rather than replace/ upgrade the cooling unit? Your tires are getting a little worn.. can i interest you in a new car?

If something is unclear please ask. I find it difficult to proofread my own writings and feedback helps me improve. I think...

12 year old refrigerator that doesn’t work? Yes I would get a new one. Replacing the boiler leaves all the old electronics, door seals, and cabinet.
Ours was $1080 delivered and took about 3 hours to replace.

All: after much work we have removed the dometic NDA 1402 refrigerator. We had to take the cooling unit off and all other exterior parts to get it through the doorway. We have a Frigidaire residential unit ordered that will be delivered on Wed. I have to do some more dismantling around the entrance door - door gasket etc because I need a full 25 " plus to get the box of the new frig in. Thanks for everybody's advice visa safety and extraction. If any body has removed gasket and trim around the door on a 2007 Fleetwood discovery - expedition, excursion or providence I would appreciate any tips or guidance.

That is our plan if our OEM Norcold quits, new Norcold frig.
