Refrigerator Question

We thought the fridge went out we were plugged in to power . tried it with the generator still nothing . it was sitting at a tilt We were not staying in the coach. then when we hit the road for home the fridge started working again on the generator. stopped for the night & hooked up to power and the check gas lite comes on .. the fridge is still cool but not sure its running . any ideas on why the fridge stopped cooling? does it have to be level to run ?
its a Dometic brand fridge
Thanks
Cheryl

The fridge needs to be close to level to operate properly. If it is way off level the cooling will be dramatically reduced. Do you have the controls set to AUTO so it switches back to gas when no power is available? You should not get a check gas warning connected to power if you are in the auto mode.

The older units are more sensitive to being level. But you can ruin one trying to run it too far off level.

Without knowing how old the refer is we all are just guessing. If it's a few years old, mysterious shutdowns can often be traced to lack of maintenance. Cleaning the flame area, removing and replacing the connectors for the thermocouple, checking the air flow would be places to start.

As mentioned, running the refer when tilted more then 5° can cause it to stop cooling. Rule of thumb, according to the manufacturer, if it's uncomfortable to walk in your rig, then it's tilted too far for the refer.
