Refrigerator temperature.

I can get 40f on my 8 CF refrigerator but tough to hold with minimal door opening. I am going to wire in two small fans with individual switches pointed up in the back. Any tips? I have fans on the way and have toggle switches.

Is your fridge in a slide ?

My fridge is not , and I installed 2; 4" pancake fans under the roof vent to draw the heat up the back of the fridge. Been working fine for 3 years in temps up to the mid 90s.

Check your fridge installation against the manufacturers clearance specs for the rear , many owners find that the clearance between the back wall or baffle is over what the installation instructions called for , allowing too much air to by-pass the fridge coils .

Also check for a yellow powder at the base of the chimney , any sign of the powder , means the system is leaking and it's a fire hazard.

On the back inside the fridge on the fins is a clip with wires. Move the clip down towards the bottom, this adjusts the thermistor to call for more cooling.

Works for Dometic , but not for Norcold ( I've been told) and kind of the opposite of this decal .
there are also adjustable thermistors available .

Works for Models that have 'Auto Temp Control'-----no adjustable temp settings
Norcold also has a model like this
Minor adjustment 4*F-6*F temps overall
UP/COOLER
DOWN/WARMER

OP>>>>>
What Brand/Model is your fridge?
New problem?
Same on electric and propane or just one heat source?
What temp is freezer?

Have you checked door seals....dollar bill test?
Is drip tray under fins drain tube cracked, missing 'check valve' in end of tube, sucking warm air in?

Fans work best PULLING air up from bottom vent thru absorber tubing, across condenser fins and then out the upper vent.
Clearances/draft/no dead air space are critical

Course it could just be a thermistor issue or lower circuit board problem
OR an obstructed cooling unit....fridge is 17-18 yrs old

Fought this battle for way too long with a Damnetic#1492...swapped in a Sammy 18.
freezer is a constant -5 deg, fridge is steady 38 deg.
On our former coach with a smaller ('98/'99 Dometic) (10cf) propane/electric, did not have the issues..
Just had to defrost once month.
