Electric is no maintenance until it breaks. It takes up very little space. Draw back is that you need a LOT of electricity, so never less than 50A shore power or big generator, and then easy on other high draw items. You will need to run the generator to have heat while driving. You will need separate means to heat water, and preheat the engine.

Hydronic units can also make endless hot water, some of them can preheat the engine and they can run on fossil fuels which frees up a lot of amps. Some of them can function while driving without burning fuel. Some of them can function while driving burning little fuel but no generator is required. But, they do require maintenance and the burners/tanks take up space.

If I had to choose it would depend on how the other needs were met.... ie the total package.

Either way, floor heat is nice. I think the reliability preference would go to electric, but again, then you do need other appliances with their own potential reliability issues.
