Replace carpet with engineered wood floor

Hi all;

We just upgraded from a fleetwood flair to a Damon Ultrasport and are considering replacing the carpet with wood. Any one have any advice, how do we insure we clear the slide etc?
Thanks in advance, love this site!

Randy and Mary Jo

Randy and Mary Jo, Glad you're aboard. Congrats on the new rig. Sorry I can't answer your question. I'm sure others will be along to post. Best of luck on a solution. Enjoy your adventures and be safe.

I did a lot of renovation on mine last year. Here is the link to pics

http://www.flickr.com/photos/zzjea/sets

I got my engineered wood flooring from Home Depot and glued it down and used no quarter round on sides, just cut pieces to fit. Hardest part is getting the old carpet out with all the staples they put in. It took a while but I did it all myself and it looks beautiful IIDSSMS. Check out Ernie Ekberg's posts for a real professional (outside of Fort Worth).

Wait for a guy named Ernie to chime in, when he does, listen to him, he's been doing floors forever and he specializes in motorhomes……Bruce

Ernie is in Wetherford, TX not too far from Ft Worth. But I suppose he can speak up for himself. PM him if you are interested as he may be too busy to watch this forum.

Lots of threads on this, including mine. Go to the top right and type "replace carpet" or some such in the search box. Many will come up. My advice is to read a lot and plan as much as you can, but be flexible enough to change if what you uncover is different from what you thought was going to be there. From what I learned, basically no two coaches are alike, especially when it comes to how to handle the slides. I went from planning on installing Allure to something completely different. Not the easiest or the cheapest project, but oh so worth it in the end.
As previously mentioned, listen to Ernie.
