We have a Four Winds 2002 Hurricane.

We were about to pack up and head home, when our slide out would not come back in (and the hand pump did not work worth a dam). We finally figure out that it was the batteries. We replaced the batteries and reconnected everything. As far as I know I reconnected everything correctly, and the slide out worked just fine, and we're able to start up the generator so I know I connected something correctly.

However, NOTHING works in the cabin. We have no power anywhere. It's as if something is not connected correctly. Or there is a fuse that has blown.

How are the batteries suppose to be connected? and is there some fuse or breaker I need to flip?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Hopefully some of our Hurricane experts will be along soon to chime in but in the meantime some questions you might want to answer are:

* How did you finally come to the conclusion that the batteries were bad?

* How many house batteries and what voltage?

* How did you approach the wiring of the new batteries? Take a photo or make a diagram of the original wiring?

* Do you have an EMS electrical control panel inside the coach and if so, what reading are you getting for house battery voltage?

* Are your symptoms the same whether or not you're hooked to shore power?

There are two things that come to mind.. possibly 3 but let me re-read 2002 limits it to 2.

First; There is a device called a battery disconnect, these come in several flavors but most involve a solenoid type device (Basically a big relay) located somewhere in between the battery and the house, It is possible that it is in the OFF/Disconnected/Store position.. Check your disconnect.. See note below.

Second, it is also possibly you have multiple connections usually to the battery positive.. I have modified my system so I have only one but many motor homes have 2, 3 or 4 such connections.

We have had many posters who missed a cable when they re-connected, or even who hooked a cable to the wrong post.

The third thing is a specific type of converter but I do not belive you'd have one of those in a 2002. (Magnetek)
