Replacing 5K Hitch With 10K On XC Chassis

I know this has been hashed out before with little or no results but thought I'd try again. I was wondering if anyone has found a 10K hitch that will replace the 5K hitch on an XC chassis. Winnebago, in all their wisdom, installed a 5K hitch on a chassis that is rated for 10K. I know there is a universal hitch out there that will work but will need to be welded and several holes drilled for mounting. The hitch width is 39" and thought someone might have found something that would fit. It's a 2002 Itasca Horizon. Thanks in advance.
Rich

Even if your chassis is rated for 10000lbs. is your drivetrain rated at that?

The GCWR is 36,850# and GVWR is 26,850#. The coach weighs approx. 24,000# as it sits. It has a 330cat and an Allison 3000. As of 10/31/2001, Winnebago installed a 10K hitch as standard equipment on the same XC chassis. Mine was mfg. on 8/01/2001. As I said, there is a universal available and some owners have simply "beefed" up the existing 5K. I am looking for a simple exchange
Thanks for your concern.

Here's a web site for RV salvage yards, you might get lucky and find one here, "rverscorner.com then click on RV Salvage Yards.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Also found a "recycler" on ebay who is parting out a 2005 Meridian. I think they were built on the XC chassis.

Thanks Chuck. those are the universals I was talking about in my original post. I did find those on ebay (11")for $162 shipped. Probably the way I'll go. After looking at the Itasca brochure, seems like the 10K draw bar is still limited to a 500lb tongue weight. Will need a wd hitch as well.
