My obsolete backup monitor system has failed and I am researching a complete replacement system. Functionally I want the system to monitor backing into parking spaces, aid in monitoring traffic when changing lanes and finally aid in hooking up a trailer or tow vehicle. Specifically:

[1] 7" flat screen color monitor, reasonable resolution
[2] Wired, NOT wireless system
[3] Reasonably wide angle camera, but NOT fisheye
[4] Tilt able camera or lens (for general rear view and trailer hookup) preferred if such a thing is available or 2 camera system
[5] Sound not necessary but OK (all I can hear is the engine)
[6] Price under $300

I see prices from under $100 to thousands. I am afraid of the quality/reliability of the cheap systems, but I can not imagine what a $1,200 system offers that is worth that much money (Camping World $600 to $1,200 for system as described above).

Rear View Safety | Product | Backup Camera System | RVS-770613

The link above is the dual camera system I installed from rear view safety. It is the RVS-813613 system, and won't show on the web site without some digging. You can check out my picture showing the rear camera by going to "Photos" above and then "Member's Gallery" to look at it. To switch between the 2 cameras, just point the remote toward the display and push the video switch button. So far, it works good. Not fun to fish the dual coaxs up the rear cap, but it worked out OK. Kept the old B&W camera in place (it only looks down at the TOAD) for a backup--HA--Backup to the backup camera system.

I bought this system. Works good and inexpensive. No sound though. I bought the 66 foot cable to go along with it. Used the old cable as a pull cable to fish through under my MH. The 9" monitor fills the hole in the dash where my B&W Voyager monitor was. Had to make a bracket to hold it in place.

Thanks for the reply. I found what appears to be a one camera version of your system, RVS-770613, on the Costco web site for $200. It will accommodate a total of 3 cameras. Do you find the resolution of the system to be acceptable, better than your old system?
