Replacing carpet in 2000 Pace Arrow Vision 36B
Hi: We live in So. Oregon. We have a 2000 Pace Arrow Vision 36B with two slide outs and a washer/dryer unit. We would like to replace the shag carpet throughout the rig. The kitchen area is the only place with real oak hardwood flooring. We have two small dogs so have decided that tile is a better option than carpet - can just use throw rugs over the tile. I don't mind leaving the hardwood flooring as is.
We contacted Countryside RV Interiors in Junction City OR for an estimate, and they came back with between $5-8K, which we find to be outrageous, just to replace the carpet with a high quality vinyl tile "look-alike".
They recommend/use Tarkett's NAFCO Permastone" vinyl composite tile because it looks real and is much lighter weight than real tile. They also use KRAUS vinyl tile.
We don't want to spend this kind of dough just for vinyl tile plus the small carpet area that covers the engine "hump" located between the two front seats.
Are these good brands of vinyl "look-alike" tile to consider for the RV? Other brands/options we should consider? Is there grouting involved or is it seamless?
Should we check the prices at our local carpet dealers (like Lipperts and Floors to Go, Home Depot) for the product and installation rather than an RV Interior "Specialist"?
Your thoughts, ideas, experiences, and suggestions much appreciated - We're not young so unless the job is pretty easy, we don't want to tackle a do it yourself job, especially with slideouts and 3 captain chairs, kitchen cabinets, etc. to contend with.
Thanks,
Jim and Susan
