Replacing Carrier Air V with 15k unit

My 38' motorhome has 2 - Carrier 13,500 btu air only units and I'm thinking about replacing only the forward unit with a 15k btu heat pump unit. The issue is my forward unit controls the heat by remote control so the issue is to be able to change the air unit and still control the heat. Is there a way to direct attach a wall mounted thermostat to control the heat? I also am aware Carrier is no longer in the RV air business.

If the A/C also controls the furnace via the REMOTE (Carrier Air V does that) You can not replace a non-heat pump with a heat pump model without finding compatible unit (I have not) OR Re-wiring. (not sure how hard that will be) adding a wall mount T-Stat for the furnace..That is likely very easy.

If you want to replace a Carrier V Air Conditioner (only) with a new upper unit, say due to fialure..I think it is Coleman and I know Advent Air make compatible 15K units.. I have an Advent.. Suggest you try Coleman.

well
I did both of my carrier non heat pumps to 15.5 btu heat pumps
the front one runs the propane heat. wiring in the ceiling was easy,
I did run a new thermostat wire under the ceiling
i ran the wire through the vents to a trim piece than ran the wires hidden and down to the new thermostat.

the propane heat wire in the ceiling is lad out pretty easy to read from the carrier hook up.
download the carrier book if you don't have the one. the wiring is easy to reconnect
i even, through time to measure and patience
even used the carrier ceiling trim kit so i could clean the filters easier

yes you can replace a non heat pump carrier with a heat pump dometic. yes you do loose the remote, so you have to add a thermostat
here is the numbers
