Residential fridge travel latch.

Just got a motorhome with a residential fridge. Do they need a travel latch? Drove it home with fridge empty with no issues..........but fill the door with drinks or what not and I wonder. The promotional video showed the salesman undoing a latch on a Fridgidaire. If they are available, where do you get one?

My GE profile does not. Each door and the freezer draw require quite a bit of a tug to open. They have never come open during travel. But some do have or need external latches. Hopefully somebody will come along with your same model refrigerator.

On my Samsung 197 I installed these to keep the doors closed, works well. I went with the 5 lb pull.
Robot Check
A lot of RVers install these also.

With our Whirlpool we use those adjustable rods inside to keep things from moving around. With nothing to bump against the door, it has never opened in over 1 1/2yrs. of having it.

I never had a problem with the one in my fifth wheel until one day at a gas station I got pissed because I couldn't fill up at the truck pumps and pulled away real fast and made a hard sharp turn. The doors swung open and spilled blueberry yogurt all over the place. Needless to say, my wife was not happy with me. We installed child safey locks thru the handles after that and no more problems. On my new motorhome it has two straps that go across the front of the two fridge doors and the freezer door. By the way, I don't get passed anymore, cleaning up blueberry yogurt will cure you of that.

FWIW: Our RR came with a simple twist lock between the doors. I'm sure it is something that Fleetwood installed so they must feel it is needed.

A picture is worth 1000 words. No explanations needed.

That looks like a Dometic or Norcold part.

Try a Google!

Tried Google. Couldn't find a retailer. Found this pic at the gallery for California RV show. No link or manufacturer. Very neat looking latch.

Tiffin uses the Southco latch for the Whilrpool/Kitchen Aid French door refers. They install 1 at the top of each of the refrigerator doors as close to the center of the refer as possible. http://www.amazon.com/Southco-SC-432...7GXYCG2KZNWPR7

I use a double sided cable wrap Velcro strap goes thru both handles and door never moves. I put 4 4 Velcro on side of freezer out of sight and push it closed when traveling.

RV Fridge Latch

Slate--You did not say what type coach you have, but Thor just added these latches to the Palazzo last year and several of us have retrofit our older Palazzos with these latches. We bought through Thor. Shipping is as much as the latch. About $6 each. Certainly an improvement over what originally came with the coach.
