The converted unit pretty much eliminates the boiler problems/risks, but the fridge itself is still just a thin box with a cold plate lying against one side.
I would agree and with a residential you get more SQ feet and for less money. If you want to get fancy and get ice and water in the door it's a couple of hundred more.

The conversion is a great option for those rigs that just don't have the space for a residential unit or someone that just doesn't want to change the look of their rig.

Or do not want to re do the woodwork or.. have a fridge that is on top of their furnace so a standard residential will not easily fit...

Well I'm at Cruising America for my refrigerator install as well as some other work. Looks like they do a lot of work here. Looking forward to working with Kevin this week.
I'm a bit nervous as the work won't be just plug and play. This is my home now.
I'll update when the work is done.

All the best.

Just had ours done by RV One in Elkhart IN. We went with the Samsung RF18. It was a tight fit but it’s in and they did a great job. Looks factory and the price was better than we expected.

Depends...

If you will boondock a lot and don't use a generator you will need more batteries than if you go from hook up to hook up 4 will be fine. We went 5 years with 4 lifeline 220 A/H batteries. We could get about a solid 6 hours before we needed to run the generator. However, we didn't really conserve electricity because we had a couple computers being charged and a DirecTV Genie DVR running. We also would have a couple TVs running for 1-2 hours of that 6 hours. If we shut down the satellite receiver and took a few other measures we could get 8 hours.

I'm back from Celina, Kevin Mallory and his crew did a great job for us. Unfortunately the RF18 Samsung would not fit in my 66" kitchen slide. Kevin found a nice Maytag locally that would fit, Still 18 Cu Ft but top freezer model, not French doors. Works great so far with sooo much more space. Ice cream is actually hard.Wood work is excellent and matches well.
Found a problem while installing new Trav'ler antenna with front TV so got a new one installed. Added quick connect for gas grill using gas line that was dedicated to the removed Norcold refrigerator. All work done in 3 days, one day ahead of schedule and within buget.

Thanks to Kevin, Gary and crew!
Thanks Gray B for the recommendation!

Cheers
