Residential refrigerator install
Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for a company that can remove the existing Norcold 1200 series refrigerator and install a residential refrigerator. Prefer a company in the Great Lakes area (MI, IN, IL, OH, WI, PA).
If you can recommend a qualified/reputable company that would be awesome!
Thank you for your suggestions.
Cheers

Just an FYI, there is now an all electric cooling unit for the Norcolds in case you want to just swap the cooling unit out.

Cruising America RV Service (Kevin Mallory, owner) in Celina,OH. Just a couple miles from the IN border, so close enough to your area. He has done many and is a highly reputable service-only shop.

Aren’t there 3-dozen such firms in Elkhart, IN on the Ohio Indiana border?
That’s the center of the RV industry.
Here’s just one:

Thank you Jake21. I'll look into that option.

Thank you Gary,
I have sent a request to Cruising America. They have some good reviews online. Hopefully I'll hear back.
Cheers

Why not try to do it yourself. I installed a Samsung RF18 in my 5 th wheel trailer. In that install the new fridge had to be installed in a slide out and bolted in such a way as to not impede the slide. I also had to run an in inverter cable, a water line for an ice maker, and do some fairly extensive cabinet work. It took some time with a drill, circular saw, and had to fab up some custom brackets. The hardest part by far was getting the fridge through the front door. Removal of the never ever cold norcold was easy. Hell, it’s just time and money you would have spent paying somebody else to do it. I think I did a better job then the for hire guys and had some fun making a huge mess inside the 5er. Live a little and go for it. The money you would have spent goes to you and that means you can buy more goodies for your home away from home. Paul R. Haller

Yup, know of one Foretravel owner who just did the "all electric residential compressor cooling system" swap out...very happy camper.. and the price installed was reasonable without having to do any wood working or removing windows to get a Sammy into the coach...as you keep the Nocold.just put the new cooling system into the existing cabinet.

Just sold our S&B to go full time for a while. No more shop to work out of. I'm not good at wood working or finishing. Have my hands full taking care of elderly in-law's seasonal lake cottage rental business.
There was a time I might have tried that but ready to pass the work on to professionals and prep for our first major trip this Fall.

Without meaning to bash the compressor conversion from JC, there is really little comparison between a residential fridge and the conversion job. The converted Norcold still cools only via chill plates in the back wall, just like the absorption cooling unit did. It has no forced air circulation inside, is not self-defrosting, and still has the same mediocre wall insulation. The converted unit pretty much eliminates the boiler problems/risks, but the fridge itself is still just a thin box with a cold plate lying against one side.

Looked at their web site earlier and didn't see any suggestion of doing refrigerator conversions. I passed them over because I thought they only did furniture. I'll check them out.
All the best!
