Residential Refrigerator on the road
Moving up from a TT to a MH, I'm still trying to figure things out. I have 2 trips coming up, one 4 hours and the next about 12 hours driving time. Do I need to run the generator for either of these trips?

No - If your fridge is fed by an outlet connected to an inverter, then it will be fed power by the inverter with the alternator charging the batteries.

If you want to run the roof ac then yes. We did a 10 hr drive pit curtains behind seats and just used cab ac. Fridge should run on propane fine and if not dont open it.

If your fridge is NOT fed by the inverter, it will stay cold for quite some time, unless you get into it while your driving. Ours is fed through the inverter, so it's on all the time.

I can't imagine an RV manufacturer putting in a residential fridge without putting it on an inverted circuit. But stranger things have been done.

Mistly likely the RR is on a Inverter. If so, not a problem. If not on a Inverter, it will stay cold for many hours without power.

Thanks for all your comments. The inverter thing is new to me and I didn't know how long the fridge would last but it sounds like my alternator will keep the batteries charged...thanks again.

For the short trip I would not run it. For the 12 hour trip I would. It really depends on the outside heat and the number of times you open the frig., so I would run it on the long trip.

My RR friig has been running on the inverter for 4 years, never been turned off. I like my beer cold and the ice cream hard.

We are full timers and have residential refrigerator. It has never been turned off since we bought the coach 4 1/2 years ago. During this time we have traveled over 40,000 miles.
Don't even give it a though. Leave it on.
