We live in the Richmond area. If you're looking for a "resort" Bethpage Campground in Urbanna Virginia is hands down our favorite. It's an hour outside of downtown Richmond. There are some full hookup places closer to downtown but not nearly as nice. As already stated Pocahontas State Park is nice and a very good deal for your money. It's only water and electric with a dump station.

Campbell5 is right, i live a little south of Richmond and if you do not mind the drive Beth Page is nice! If you are looking for a nice clean State Park ( good rates) as a base camp to tour the Richmond Petersburg area Pocahontas is the place.

If you want to stay closer to Richmond, the Americamps in Ashland is nice. It is between US 1 and I95 off Lewiston Road. While it is close to 95, traffic noise is not bad and the RV park is well landscaped, has plenty of big rig sites, and is close to roads that will take you anywhere in the Richmond area.

I suppose it depends on how one defines "resort". As I define it, there aren't any in that area.

I would agree. We have family in Richmond and visit often. The Americamps in Ashland has 'resort' in their name and, while it is a nice RV park, I don't think of it as a 'resort' like some we have seen.

It does have a small pool, a nice fenced dog run, long and level sites (gravel), some trees for shade but many satellite-friendly sites, a fitness center, a nice store. Overall, well manicured.
