Roadmaster 195225 spare tire carrier questions

I have a few questions regarding the Roadmaster 195225 spare tire carrier we purchased. Is there a way to replace the bolt that attaches the carrier to the coach hitch with one that would accept a hitch lock or pad lock? It appears the existing bolt is threaded. Is there a way to install locking lug nuts where the wheel of the spare attaches to the carrier? Can I put the Reflectix insulation under the spare tire cover to protect the spare against heat and sun?

Thank you

Yes the bolt is tapered and threaded. Your question is best directed to RM. But I'm betting they will tell you to not modify it. But be careful....

We on the other hand went through hell with ours. In the outer position you get a lot of slack. So we tried to remove the bolt / pin to move it to the second position. For whatever reason the bolt / pin snapped. With the threaded section stuck. We were in Pigeon Forge and could not get any RV dealer to help us. So we drove on to our next destination in Elizabethtown KY. DW had to follow in the Jeep. There is a great dealer, Skaggs, who had to pull the hitch and drill the pin out. Our RM tire carrier sits on our garage floor. Anyone within 100 miles of Buffalo who is interested, PM me - I'm so xzdrs1$, with it I might sell it cheap!

It's an awful heavy set up. It's a good idea, but has some design flaws.
