Rock Guard

I am trying to find out what rock guard everybody uses. We want to protect our toad.
We will be towing a Chevy traverse behind our Winnebago Sightseer 35j.

Depends somewhat on your towbar and/or tow brackets. We have Roadmaster and have the Guardian for a rock shield for the toad.

We use a Protect-A-Tow and have for three motorhomes now. Easy to install and remove and store, and nary a spot on the Kia. We have used it for about 15,000 miles so far.

Ditto. Only mud flaps we use are the ones behind the coach tires. We do try to stay on paved roads or travel very slow on dirt/gravel roads.

I have about 15,000 mi. on my toad and never used a shield. I do have the full flap in the rear. It has never been hit by a stone that's left a ding, and I've had to ride on stony roads.

I use the UltraGuard solid rubber flap, positioned 4" from the ground, along with the Protect-A-Tow mesh shield between the MH and toad. I feel this gives me the maximum protection possible!

[DuraFlap Mud Flaps]

The first line of defense is always the mud flaps just behind your tires. Just make sure they are wide enough to cover the tires, and low enough to the ground (about 6" off the ground) to really work.
Then, if you still get mud or rock chips, your coach style requires the mud flap on the back. It must be at least 4" off the ground to prevent hitting the ground on uneven roads and throwing rocks at your toad.

In over 5yrs. of full timing, all we've had was the two flaps behind the rear duals, and a bra that covers the lower portion of our Saturn Vue. Been from Maine to CA., FL. to Alaska and still no chips or dings on our towed.

We used a Protect-a-Tow when we owned our Sightseer 35J. It worked great.

When we got our Forza we had to make a small modification but it works great there also.

I always heard over the years that the bra could cause problems.
I also do not want to have to remove it and put it on time after time. It is just one more thing to take care of, and I like to use items that just stay in place, and I can forget about. Just my thing.

In 75,000 miles I never saw the need for rock protection until I went to Alaska and Yukon and the combination of the Dempster Highway and the Alaska highway demonstrated the need for this protection.

Yes, that track is a whole other world as far as rock chips.

During our trip, I removed the full flap on the suggestion of our caravan wagon master who had made the trip Many times.
I left the full flap in a CG in Whitehorse, YK on the way up with intentions of picking it up on the way back. Well, with simply the two flaps directly behind the rear wheels, I found my stone problem went away completely.

So, the full flap is still sitting in the pile in Whitehorse and I have no plans to put one back. Toad is not bothered by stones and actually stays cleaner without the full flap.
Unless I plan to return to AK, which is not likely, I now have a BlueOx Rock Guard and a RoadMaster Rock Guard (Roll up screen type) that I will probably never use again.
I have met many others on the road without the full rear flap and they all have a similar story as to why they don't have the full flap.

My toad chips also stopped when I dropped the Ad-Flap. The regular flaps do it all, on highways or gravel.
