Rolling Ladders

Does anyone have any knowledge or have used fooling ladders in your garage? I'm thinking about purchasing one. I don't like placing a regular ladder against my Motorhome, and A-frame ladders can be cumbersome. I have a very large garage. I would appreciate any comments. I would also appreciate the best place to purchase a rolling ladder. I am considering the Tri-Arc brand similar to the one shown in this photo. Thanks for your help.

I had one for warehousing at a place I used to work. I borrowed it once to wax my rig. It was a nice experience. I modified the wheel system. I ditched the wheels shown & replaced them with regular caster with a "rocker" brake. I then drilled the brake pedal & attached a long all-thread thru it, then welded a bracket to the top handrail, passed the all-thread thru it & put a 90 degree bend in it. Did this on both sides. I could now "pull" myself on the ladder along the MH, set & re-set the brake without constantly walking down the ladder, repositioning & re-climbing.

MuckSavage... You hit nail right on the head. I am trying to figure out how I can pull myself down a 44 foot coach using the rolling ladder. If you have a picture of the modifications you made that would be great; if you don't your description helps. Thank you so much

Watched "Extreme RV's" last night and they showed guys painting a Foretravel using drywaller's stilts. Looked like a really cool way to wash or wax too. I wonder if old folks like us could learn to use them?

I just looked at Craigslist and there were at least 10 pair for sale, most in the $100 range used.

Hello jmckinnley... LOL. SENIORS LIKE ME AND MEMBERS OF THE GEEZER SQUQD should not be using stilts to wash vehicles. If you fracture a hip or other long bones, this can be devastating. Pay someone to wash the RV or use one ot these rolling ladders. Smile.

Don't know about the quality of it, but same design as used to work on aircraft in the military.

Sorry, i don't have a photo (it was in the days before everyone had a camera all the time) But picture simply a long "cane" to apply & release the brakes. The bracket at the top just kept the "cane" next to you.

We bought it used at a warehouse sale. If I remember it was maybe $100. Price possibly affected my the fact that we bought a bunch of pallet shelving also.

Maybe a wheeling scaffolding would be better than just a rolling ladder. Then you have a platform to work from.

I found one at Harbor freight years ago
Reasonably priced, stable, and about 4 foot of walk space on top. With my reach, I can usually clean the whole side(45 ft) in three moves, not counting the starting position.
Can also get the front and rear in one climb each.
It's yellow if that helps and has nice smooth rolling wheels

You can also rent scaffolds at Equipment Rental places.
