Roof Cleaning

Getting ready to do a roof coat with Liquid Roof. What's the best thing to clean roof with before I coat? Dawn detergent? Bleach? Special roof cleaner? Please let me know what has worked for you on EPDM roof. Thanks.

I have used Liquid Roof too and on my cleaning portion I used Comet, a mild dish detergent, IVORY and a medium stiff scrub brush. The liquid roof part I did in a gallon bucket and mixed smaller more manageable sized containers. The squeegee did not work for me I used a roller and went at it slowly and steady. Took 4 hours to coat my 34' er. Get the edges first and then around the AC and vents....so you can stand and work your way back over the open areas towards your ladder. Makes for the best escape route. It takes a few days to cure....then you can go back with any remainder of Liquid roof and get areas that you skimped on...

For renewing a rubber roof, I'm a Dicor fan. Dicor requires first cleaning their roof with a special cleaner/activator, then applying 2 coats of their rubber roof coating.
