Roof drip rail problem
On both sides front, the drip rail along the roof edge terminates with a little plastic insert that is supposed to push accumulated water from the roof away from the coach. It doesn't do that and water runs down the coach and thus down the windows on driver and passenger sides.
I have just repaired inside water damage under both windows that has taken a long time to develop. Part of the issue was the weep holes in the window frames not being free of dirt, etc. and also that the AC drains water to the sides of the roof and then along the drip rail to front or back. Here in Texas it is almost always humid and the AC puts out a lot of condensation.
Is there a better way to get the end of the drip rail to direct the water away from the sides? I'm pretty sure the constant water flow from the AC down the windows caused most of the damage. I have cleaned the weep holes and caulked where necessary, but would like to redirect the water flow somehow.
Thanks
John

Hi John. I don't have personal experience with them, but I have seen RV "gutters" on the Camping World site and on other RV parts suppliers.

Camping world has longer gutter ends, should put the drip out away from the coach body.
i am fighting some of the same issues, leaks, might be the window, might be the gutter. If it stops raining here I will work on both.

Hi zzjea,
I had the same problem. The CW gutter extensions help, but were not enough. I took clothes pins and put them on the end of the gutter extensions. Two clothes pins per gutter extension. Now water runs off the end of the clothes pins and really does miss the entire coach. Use wood clothes pins. The current clothes pins have been on the coach for over 3 years. Once installed, one doesn't even know they are there.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to try to fabricate something to attach to what is there so it will flow out about 3 inches. I'll post pictures when I get it done.

Solution!!
I bought 4 new gutter end spouts and epoxy'ed some aluminum flashing material to the front ones. The aluminum is rigid but easily bendable, so I just formed it around the end spout and put the epoxy on. I may paint the aluminum white if I get a chance.
It's raining today so I have not installed them yet. They stick out over 4" so I expect there will be no water running down the side from the drip gutter. The AC's condensation should run off without touching the sides or windows. I've got a couple of pics. below.

I second the wooden clothes pins. A cheap & easy way to fix the problems of streaks. I have had them on my gutters since we bought the 5er in April '11. They have stayed on through windstorms & buckets of rain here on vancouver Island.

We use a section of clear vinyl tubing on the ends of the gutter extensions, all the way to the ground. We were getting the dripping right on the top of our outside kitchen door, and we'd get wet from the constant dripping. The tubing directs the water away from the TT and down to the ground. Works like a charm!

How do you keep the tube from getting clogged up with debris from trees etc.?
Especially with Spring, we have so much pine junk (needles, seed pods, etc.) that a tube would get clogged in an hour.

How can it get clogged? It's attached to the end of the gutter extension. Nothing goes down it but water.

I installed these things I made the other day and they work great. Water flows off the roof and away from the sides by at least 6" with water flow.
