Great idea Don. Sure would hide the ugly. That idea really gives me some thoughts. Heck, I may build a harness and hoist the DW to the roof so she can look at the stars with me. If she hears about this I'm the only one going to see stars.

I notice that your toad is a Ford Edge. Won't these items stow in there while you're on the road?

The bicycle would but take the whole rear area space and the boat won't go there. No roof rack can be used on this model.

You could put a strap-on bike rack on the back of the Edge and the boat inside.

Thule does have roof racks with all sorts of accessories for your Ford Edge.

Roof racks won't work on my Edge. The limited version with the giant sun roof eats up all the edges. The boat is to long to store inside.

Keep em coming.

YC1....You could just buy a 43' coach and get that extra bay!!!!

I feel your pain, I have a 36' that I'm always trying to find space for things.

On edit.....I don't feel bad for you, you have four more feet than I do and you're having storage issues! -

Another use for that Skyhook I still can't find. It seems everyone sold the last one yesterday.

Don, with a 45 footer I would have a tag and probably not gain any storage space. I'm already 42 feet. Just that the boat is bulky and so is the bike. The bike is a Montague folding bike with a Bionix electric motor. It folds up nicely but still takes several cubic feet. I may end up pulling a trailer. My mother and dad do and don't seem to have issues.

Well if you could get a lightweight enclosed trailer, that would certainly be a nice solution, and it would be much easier on your Edge as well.

I bought a brand new 26' race trailer last summer for $9500. Empty it weighs 5000lb.

YC1.....We have a Hobie 2 person inflatable Kayak that folds up into a bag. It won't fit anywhere in our coach. On one trip we took our truck and packed it in the bed. On another, we used a Harbor Freight aluminum rack that fits in the bumper. You can buy some extensions that would extend your hitch out to the tow bar and give you storage between the toad and the coach.

Take a look in marine equipment for yachts. Many of them have folding davits for launching dinghies, etc. Ones you find may give you some ideas to use to fab your own.

This idea may work well. Why not use a double-decker hitch like this:

You could build your winch-lift off the upper one and leave the lower one for towing. You could fold the winch back off the roof to sister up with the upright coming off the upper hitch. That way, nothing would stick up above the roof when underway, and you wouldn't have to stow it anywhere.
