The old tile of course was glued, the carpet I put a long carpet tacks right behind the Johsonite molding. Probably a tack every two inches, fluffed up the carpet over the carpet tack head. Looks great. I have had no issues with the slide, It works great

Getting the floor clean would be first I would think and choosing the product you are going to put down. I looked at a lot of product and am very pleased I chose Kardean flooring. I read that a few others had used it with good results. It has no Oder! Smell the other products. Others have written about problems with oder's. Kardean was also easy to cut and work with. Good luck, it was a bigger project than I thought, but as I've said, I'm old. Would do it again though!
