I agree w/ most of the comments that it is possible but also agree w/ Tony it's not necessary to exercise diesels every month - lots in storage for a lot longer and can do more harm than good w/ not getting them up to full temp which requires a ride & workout.

Gennys are another story and some get the 2 confused.
The reason to exercise the genny has more to do w/ the Gen side of things than the engine driving it. Most Mfgs recommend a monthly run under about 50% load to warm up & dry out the gen windings. Again if very lightly loaded you can actually defeat the benefit and create other issues w/ the engine.

If you search you will likely find a lengthy post on excessive idling of diesels... many good points I won't repeat here.
