Running generator while driving

Just curious to know how much does running the generator while driving effects fuel mileage and how many of you run your generator while traveling down the highway.

We run it all the time while underway. No effect on gas mileage.

Mine takes .7 to 1.4 gph, rather minor compared to the main engine.

it might affect the range of your fuel tank... at 1/2 gallon/hour at full load.
10 hours driving = 5 gallons of gas used.

going to say over 90% of time it runs while we are driving.
I like to be comfortable, as in A/C

Run mine as needed. It burns about 1/2 gallon per hour.

I run mine, a Power Tech 7000 K diesel, when I need A/C, if it, (A/C), is not needed, it is off! It makes no difference going down the road or boondocking, it just runs the same! Purr's along at 1800 RPM's! Rail!

PS, I'm sure it affects the fuel mileage some, but not enough to notice!

Running generator while driving

You know, I’m glad you asked this question as I have always wondered. When we 1st bought ours I never would run it while driving even when it was hot outside. Finally one summer it was 110 going towards Bend Or, and I just HAD to start the generator and BOTH AC units and we had no issues at all and had a pleasant trip. Now I don’t hesitate to use it anytime (except when camping in close quarters).
