If you are close to the tv transmitter your booster will overload the tv therefore it would be better not to turn on the booster.

Maybe your booster is broken and not providing any amplification but instead is restricting the signal. When you say "unplugged" to you mean the power is off or do you mean the coax cable is routed around and not into the booster.

This is not uncommon. In fact when I installed the Winegard Scanner Pro amplifier there was a note in the instructions about distorted signals. The recommendation was to rotate the antenna 180 degrees to reduce the signal strength. This may be a better approach than "unplugging" the amp, that way when you get someplace with weaker signals you should be good to go.

First. unless someone installed some after market junk what you bypasses is not the booster.. Just the power supply and source switch.

(The booster is part of the antenna assembly, it is inside the blastic body)

Second, one of the advantages o the Sensar PRO to replace that wall plate is ADJUSTABLE GAIN.. I can adjust it from 10 (WHich I think is unity) up an down to handle either weak or very strong signals.

Finally.. There could be domething wrong with your swith. In which case I'd go with the Pro, but then I did.

Only problem with the Sensdar Pro is I get TOO MUCH TV, I have to ignore several shows I'd like to watch but so many shows. so little time.
