RV carport not wide enough for slides

Has anyone modified a carport to allow for slide outs?

RV carport modification

The place we bought it from says they can remove the two posts that are in the way of the slide out and notch out the siding to allow the slide out to go out, but I would like to hear from someone that has done this and possibly see some photos.

You didn't say what kind of carport and two roof supports sounds like a lot. If your slide goes past the roof line want the roof water dump down on top of slide.

The carport looks like this one...we live in southern california so rain is not an issue. We are inches away from being able to use slide out without modifications. We would only be using in when guests are over and for loading/unloading and cleaning.

If you are going to widen it, I'd also extend the sides to the ground. In my part of the country, we try to keep the sun off everything.

If you remove legs if will definitely need a header to support roof with missing legs.

I like your carport.

But, how do you keep the pack rats or mice out of your rig?

In my opinion, I would not remove or cut any of the side supports. For cleaning and loading you can pull motorhome out. Do you have slides on both sides? If slides on one side only, looks like you can park a little closer on passenger side and slides on other side may have room to go out. Just a thought.
