RV Catches Fire, Closes Road in Poconos

Wow! This is terrifying to me. Sounds like another refrigerator fire. Hope he had a lot of liability insurance.

That's making a pretty big assumption. The fire looks like it is in the rear engine area.

Purely speculation but it looks too far back to be the fridge.

On that subject. What is the general thought on driving with refer on propane? Seems like it could definitely be an issue if in an accident, understandably..

Most (new) propane bottles/tanks have auto shutoff if fast pressure loss...
much better controlled than gas tanks with an open fill tube

in our case the tank is midship and it would take a well aimed hit to get to it from the side....

If a DP it must not have had Air Brakes, otherwise the park spring brake would have seized with the air pressure gone when air lines burned through?

Perhaps it was a gas job which will roll with no brake fluid?

Glad everyone got out reasonably ok.

I own a Class A gas model and
never considered a diesel pusher. I've bought 3 extremely good fire extinguishers and a second smoke detector, but don't know how to combat this. Fire is my number 1 RV'ing fear.

I just read an article from Mac the Fire Guy. I currently use three high quality ABC extinguishers. Mac recommends ABDK COLDFIRE Wetting Agent extinguishers. I am severely handicapped, walking slow with a cane. There is no way that either myself, nor my wife, are going out that bedroom emergency exit. I have always known that I will have to fight my way out and go out the primary front exit if I have a fire. I am impressed with the Coldfire suppressant. This fire extinguisher is not cheap, but I am very seriously purchasing it as my first line extinguisher. Impressions?

I bought the combo pack (Fire Safety Kit) from MAC. I keep the big one in the front, a small one in the kitchen, and the other two small ones near our rear emergency exit. I also have the original dry one that came with the coach.

Does anyone know whether the coach was gas or diesel? It sure looks like it started at the rear of the coach.

It was gas, and the reason it caught fire, brakes lit up and caught the rv on fire, they were towing another car. And thank god there was a man who went in the unit to help a lady out of the fire blazen motorhome, Later they said the man was a Iraq Navy vet, So hats off to those people, who not only served there country overseas but still protect us here..... Had that US soldier not been there the lady may have died. She was taken to the hospital and later thanked that person for all he did. It just to bad they lost every thing they owned, they were fulltimers
