RV height clearance

I would not use a GPS to measure the clearance. They are usualy off by 3 to 6 feet horizontaly and verticaly. I used a 25' tape measure and a board. Only took 5 minutes.
I have the POI from Low Clearances on my Garmin. It works pretty well. But I did find a 12' 6" bridge that were not in the data base. Good Sam trip routing will also show you low clearances, 13' 6" or less.

Just came back from a trip and we were going to a stop over campground. As I turned a corner I noticed a sign that said 12' clearance. I am 13'. We were on the campgrounds suggested route. I had just measured the height by measuring side wall top to ground and then sidewall top to highest point on roof. I very glad I did this before our trip.

Don't forget to measure to the top of your roof air conditioner or the highest point of your roof. The easiest way is just assume it is max height of 13ft 6in and go with that. That is the max legal height in most, if not every state.

Climb your ladder, with airbags full, measure from center of roof to the ground. Now measure from the highest point on roof (a/c or ant) to the roof and add them together. Add 6 " for safety and your done.
