Had Nationwide for 15 years. Then had a new $60K car stolen and wrecked. I had it towed to the best body shop in Charlotte, NC. NW adjuster would not go to appraise the damage. They instructed me they would not on the body shop property. When I asked the owner of the shop he laughed and said that he had filed suit and the case went to the NC Supreme Court against NW. Reason, they instructed him to get used parts from junk yards and not to use new OEM OR Aftermarket parts. He refused and they cut him from their "list". NW was not allowed on their property.
I had the car towed across the street to a parking lot for the estimate. The Tow cost was $200, which NW said would be reimbursed. It never was.
The estimate was about 45% of the total damage and I paid the reminder to get the car fixed correctly.
Canceled the insurance after pacing with another carrier. Intentionally had 3 days overlap to avoid state lapse in coverage. NW reported the cancellation 3 days prior to my actual cancellation, causing a lapse in coverage letter from the state. Took a month and a $50 fine to get this settled. NW did this on purpose.
NW is totally worthless!!!!!

A friend recently had their 5er totaled from ground squirrels destroying the wiring and insulation. Once I learned I looked at my policy and noticed the exclusion.

I've had Allied/Nationwide for about 30 years and my experience has been the same as yours. Allied personnel have always been very polite and easy to work with on a claim. I've had three claims in the last 30 years and each one has been a very smooth and pleasant as it can be.
One of the claims was on my first motorhome that a deer ran into. Allied took care of it no problem and made sure that the motorhome was as good or better than before the deer hit it. My experience has been that they are a very customer service oriented company.
I've had no problems with Allied paying the claims and they even check to make sure that all of the repair work was done satisfactorily.
I am not connected to Allied/Nationwide nor to the insurance industry in any way, I'm just a satisfied RV customer.

We are just working with Safeco on a claim.
We have Safeco on our motorhome. It was hit in SC by a Liberty Mutual driver. That was August 25, 2015. Camping World said it was totalled. Safeco is getting another estimate. We have replacement cost coverage and think they should replace the vehicle, which was only 6 months old at the time of the accident. The left side is ripped open, it needs body work and I am sure mechanical work because the dump truck hit the front left wheel and snapped lug nuts. I will let you know how it turns out.

So, the deer ran into you? You didn't run into the deer at, say, 50 miles per hour?
LOL

I just pulled out my Allied policy. Under the Comprehensive Coverage section it clearly says coverage is included for, but not limited to, damage from *collision* with animals (emphasis mine). Under the subsequent Coverage Exclusions, it clearly says, "We will not pay for loss due to birds, vermin, rodents, insects or animals. This exclusion does not apply to damage from collision with birds or animals."
So the distinction is if you hit an animal, they pay. If an animal eats your coach, they do not pay.

When there is no damage to the front 10' of an RV (not even a hair), then damage to the entire side from there back, that coach has been hit by a deer. It's not common, but I've seen/repaired 2 of them!
