RV repairs

Hi! I am new to this site, so hopefully I am using it right. I have a 1999 Safari Serengetti. We are having a few problems, and was hoping to find some help. The biggest concern right now is the slide. We put the slide out, no problem. When we tried to put the slide back in, no such luck. It makes a noise when you push the button, but it doesn't move. Any suggestions?

Even though your coach was built before Safari was owned by Monaco, you might try posting on the Monaco site. Some Safari owners post there and might be able to help you.

Is the slide electric or hydraulic? If electric it's most likely a gear slipping issue. If hydraulic, it might be low fluid or one of the valves loose or some debris in the fluid blocking the valve.

Did you try the search feature? I refer to it often. I looked at "slide won't come in" and there's a few people who've had same problem. Hope someone who has had the problem in a MH like yours will answer you so you can hand crank it in. Sounds labor intensive

Had a similar issue with my safari, check your hydraulic hoses for the main slide. Hoses that age are most likely rotten and leaking. The pump and reservoir should be right next the battery tray. The hoses go from there across the top of the transmission and then forward in a large bundle of wires and hoses into the basement and then back through the wall to the cylinder. Yes, I replaced both of mine and it was 'fun'. Also, just get some hoses made at any local hydraulic supply store. Much cheaper than Monaco and higher pressure rated hoses.
