I'm in Georgia and I purchased a salvage RV from Arizona in 2013 (It had a refrigerator fire). In Georgia the process of getting a Rebuilt title which you need to get plates is not difficult. You send in a application to the state DMV and they so all the paper work. They send you all the paperwork back and you then contact one of the designated inspectors or you take it to one of the authorized stations. Legally you can't drive it so, you need to have an inspector come to you. I think the cost is either $50 or $100, they want to see before pictures and a list of receipts for parts and list of what was repaired. After checking it over visually, they do a check of lights and horns and glass and sign a document. Took all of 30 minutes. They send that to the state and the state sends you a Rebuilt title in about a month. Thats all there is to it. PM me if you have any questions and enjoy your new to you RV.

I have seen cars totaled because the plastic grill was broken.
If a car was 15 years old and booked for $500 and the grill and paint came to $300 then it got totaled.

in cases like this I think it is REALLY stupid to total a car and BRAND the title. total it fine sell it at the action and isome who needs a car to drive can get one.
But the branding one ones like that is just plain wrong.

Our Sienna van was rear ended the day after we switched to Allstate ins for all of our vehicles in AZ. The ins company totaled it as the repair was 80% of the value. The DW really liked the car and we had just brought it to AZ to use while there. I bought it back from the ins company with a salvage title and had it rebuilt. (She really liked it) When it was done, we called an AZDOT inspector to check it out. 20 minutes later, he gave us a signed certificate that I took down to the local DMV office and picked up a rebuilt title. A very simple process.
