Samsung RF197... how's it doing ??

Neighbor wants me to do this for them as the already replaced cooling unit has taken a dump.

I read all the threads. BUT...how about a follow-up from folks that have had the unit fro a few years. Also if you are running with the four batts MSW inverter in a Monaco.

Thanks in advance...

PS...also if you might have the newer 18hf model.

Mine has been flawless, even on MSW.

Into my third year with no problems. The MSW inverter is not an issue with the RF-197

I did install Magnum 2812 when we installed the Samsung 197 and it has been running on the inverter with 4 batteries for over 2 years with no problems. I see why most of the new coaches use a RR frig.

I have two of the 197s. One in the house and one in the RV. Both have worked great - no problems at all (knock on wood)

On edit I'll add both run on MSN inverters.

We learned of a trick with Samsung that may help. If you turn off the switch that allows ice to be made, it doesn't drop the temperature so low to make ice cream into cement. So we keep that switch off most of the time...

Samsung 197ACRS is our model. It was in the coach when I bought it two years ago. It has been perfect, and now that we full-time we can't imagine traveling with anything else. We use bungee cords to keep the doors closed. (tried a latch and it wasn't strong enough to withstand all the bumps and bouncing the coach goes through). They work great.

Over 2 years on 4 AGMs with 440 AH@12V feeding a PSW MS2812...

We don't boondock much but also have an AGS.

The microwave will soften it quickly. I keep waiting for my Dometic to die but it keeps on ticking. The ice maker has been nothing but a pain though. I had a heat strip fail early on as did a few other folks but other than that I wish it would keep my ice cream a bit colder.

Almost a year with the RF18 on a Magnum MSW inverter. All good so far. DW says when the home fridge gets replaced, she wants another Samsung.
