San-T-Flush

Does anyone have experience with the San-T-Flush system and San-T-Tabs?

My new coach is equipped with the system and I am wondering about using the San-T-Tabs versus other deodorizing options. I've only used it once, but it seemed to take several minutes to dissolve the tab, especially the 2/3rds for the black water tank. I know that some water should be put in the tank post draining, but wonder if it is putting in more than needed and consequently reducing the effective capacity for dry camping situations.

Thanks,

John

I don't think you need any "deodorizing options" at all. We never use the SanTFLush, nor do we use anything else except during off-season at home when the coach sits for lengthy periods with little or no tank use.

Agree.

I need a couple of gallons in each tank after dump.

I disagree with both of the above posters. We use breakup plus and it seems to do a good job. It is a liquid and you do not have to let it dissolve. It is also non poisonous so you can store it and not worry about children getting into it

Here is a link to other IRV2 posts about it.

I bought a case the last time I bought it. The more you buy the cheaper it is. We use our MH at least every other weekend. Last year we went on a trip for 5 months, right now we have been living in it for two months on a trip. My wife likes this better than any other thing we have tried.

The MH has recently sat more than normal due to some health issues. Never had any odor problems before and never used any treatment. After being in storage 2 plus months there were some pretty strong smells. Thought I left it clean and with enough water but maybe not. I just started using Happy Camper and so far it seems to work.

I have a new MH with the san t flush system. I do use it to flush the tanks out before I store the coach. I usually fill most of the way up, then pull the valve and let it continue to rinse while draining. The water is usually clear almost right away. No need to do so every dump, you are just going to fill it back up soon anyway, I don't really see what the little tablet or chemicals would do. It's is supposedly a waste liquifier, but you are just spraying water in a 40 gallon tank to rinse it out, how much liquefying is it going to do in a fraction of a second contact with the stuff? Adding a little chemical to all that water is not going to do much that won't soon be undone with use. I do use holding tank chemicals between dumps, but also think that is not really needed unless you are going to hold it for more than a few days.

I think people get way to worried about a clean black tank in daily use. Dump it when it gets full and fill it back up!

The tank water might have evaporated during the 2 months?

I use the San-T-Flush every time I dump my black tank at home. I have a clear fitting on the drain so I can see when the water runs clear and don't see any chunks coming out. I don't use any of the commercial tank chemicals. I only use cheap laundry and dish washer machine detergent, liquid or powder. One cup of each in each tank, dissolve the powder before adding. Have used them for over two years, never have any tank odor and my tank monitor read correct all the time. Which they didn't do before I started using the above.
