Sanitizing the fresh water tank...

Hi All. I have a 2007 Georgie Boy Pursuit. The campground we’re staying at uses well water, and suddenly the water has been very smelly, kind of like a sewer smell. Not sure if it’s just us, but I’ve heard others have had the same smell.

I want to sanitize my fresh water tank when we leave. I’ve read you need to add bleach to the tank. I’m not sure how to to that. The only fill access I can see is through the city water connection.

Any suggestions as to where I can add a bleach mixture directly to the fresh water tank?

There are a few places commonly used to add bleach.
1. Fill up the hose and then reconnect and fill tank.
2. If you have a filter remove filter and add bleach
3. If you have a winterizing connection it can also be done there but may want to pre-dilute with a few gallons of water first and turn your valve to fill the tank.

I just pour it into the hose before filling the fresh water tank

Thanks guys! I have a whole house filter, so I’ll remove the filter and fill it with bleach.

1/4 cup per 15 gals is what is recommended....

I spoke to my neighbors, and several have had complaints of the odor. That means it isn’t my RV, but they also said it went away after sanitizing the water tanks and lines.
