Sanitizing Water Tank

Newbie question here. I bought our first RV at the end of May. At that time, the prior owner had flushed the anti-freeze from the system and sanitized it with bleach in early May. He then filled the water tank about 1/2 full.

Since purchasing, I read in the owners manual to drain the tank if not using for a month or more. So about three weeks ago I drained the tank and re-filled it with water then drained it again. I did this to not only run some clean water through the tank but to learn how to use all the different systems prior to our first trip. The tank now sits empty.

Should I sanitize the tank again prior to our first trip?

I sanitize my fresh water system appx once a year, usually when I de-winterize it. If your water supply is treated like most city water, I don't think it should be any worry to just fill the tank and go.
We normally use bottled water for drinking and coffee/tea, etc., not because of sanitary concerns, but because of taste. YMMV

More or less what he said. I keep water in the system from spring cleanout to fall winterize. We weekend enough to keep it fresh. If I'm concerned I dump a bit of bleach into the fill port on this one or the water fill hose on the old one. Follow with water. You can check the web site for Clorox to get the approximate amounts for your tank size. If you have a separate city water line clean it bay adding a bit of bleach to the hose before connecting to the faucet and then running the mix through the system. That gets everything but the water tank and pump.

Same for us. A little Chlorox in the fresh water tank after de-winterizing. Then I drive it a little bit to slosh it all around, run it through all of the faucets, then drain it all out. Refill with clean water for the season. Not that I am afraid of drinking it, but we use bottled water for cooking and drinking. \ken
