Saved by the Belle

That's the name of our 2000 Safari. Very bad hail last night - actually knocked a pilot wire off our house transformer resulting in a 4-hour power loss. Ran an extension cord from Belle (7.5 kw Onan diesel) to the house and powered up the tv, receiver, 3 freezers, and several lights. Not sure how many watts total, but the 75 ft cord never got warm and the ac breaker didn't trip. Nice to have a reliable backup.

When I got my class A I also upgraded the house electrical (Replaced the old and not very good breaker box with a new better one) and installed a proper TRANSFER switch and inlet.

On the RV I put a matching outlet

And I custom built (yes I'm qualified to do that) an extension cord.

Then came New Year's Eve. still had Christmas decorations out and when I got home from Church Frosty was asleep on the job (Air blown brand inflatable snowman) .. Sure enough no lights anywhere near.

Down to the basement,, get cord (Enough light from windows).. Plug outlet end onto inlet.. Uncoil as I walk to MH and plug into outlet.. Inside MH get GEN-TURI, back out (Tromping through snow) to Generator exhaust and install. Back inside and push buttons.. Generator starts,, Listen for CLUNK and observe effects of battery charger kicking in. Back to basement.

CLICK lights
CLICK furnace
CLICK compueters,

Freezer, Fridge, Microwave, More lights, Radios and TV's and yes... Frosty.

7,500 watts total as it turned out.

I won't do the full Master Card commericial but

Plugs and cord
Transfer switch
Installation
Warm Wife.... Priceless.
