Saw this on Facebook

I took this picture off of a thread on Facebook. Interesting how the comments were so negative! I guess if you've never "camped" a day in your life or equate "camping" as tenting then the RV lifestyle must be a totally foreign concept.Click image for larger version

I gotta admit, I sort of agree - not with the "ridiculous" part - but as a life long backpacker and tent camper, i certainly don't think of traveling in our 44' DP Coach as a "camping" trip.

I'll be honest, I don't really know what to call it. But, regardless of whatever coach life gets called - I sure like it!

I sort of agree, too. While we certainly do "camp" in our coach, we didn't buy this type of RV just for camping. We bought a coach to travel all over the country in comfort and to camp along the way in comfort.

I think many of us here were camping in tents or pop-ups when we were youthful, and I know we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of roughing it. Of course, we also enjoyed ramping up our "shelter" as the years ramped up on us

I can understand a certain demographic of folks finding our current choice as being "ridiculous". I suspect that if those folks stick with it long enough, someday they too may find themselves being... well, ridiculous

cheers,
Joopy

Have done both with some TT and 5er in between.

Currently have a Bunkhouse tent trailer we tow behind our motorcycle for summer touring and a coach when we snowbird. Both have their attributes. Each has their place and each is used as much as possible.

"Glamping" is what the magazines call it.

So I'll be driving my motorhome to Rocky Mountain National Park this summer and boondocking inside the park as a kind of base camp to do some backpacking. I'm not sure what group this puts me in, but I'm looking forward to it!

I agree with this, we have paid our dues over the many years and now I like my ridiculous style of camping.

When we comment going camping friends envision tents and such. When they see pictures they have quizzed looks. We tell them is a form of camping called Glamping and that our idea of roughing it is a holiday inn without room service. (-:

agree... Rv'ing is NOT camping.. and camping is not RV'ing.... two totally different beasts....

and if you setup a tent in a state park... this is also not camping.. this is tenting....

camping is carrying everything in a jeep (or backpack)... until the jeep (or backpack) can go no further... THEN setting up the tent and campsite.... in the snow, uphill, both ways.... HAR HAR

but that's how we did it when I was a kid....
