Scan Gauge D answered several questions for me

I recently had the 'opportunity' to have some work done at Brazel's RV Performance in Centralia, WA (I am still blown away the number of coaches a day they work on and the quality of their work) and while hanging out in the office I was looking over the massive amount of products they offer and saw the Scan Gauge Products on the wall. I am not one to readily spend money but at the same time I have questioned the accuracy and the workings of some of my gauges on the MH. After deciding the health of my MH was more important than saving a few bucks I went ahead and got it. What I found out was amazing! First was that even though my transmission gauge on the MH moved, it was not really working at all. SG showed a temperature of 179 on long passes and the dash showed around 150. Other surprises I had was the boost was off about seven lbs. Oil pressure was very close as was the engine temp. My fuel gauge on the MH is so far off even after performing the adjustment to the sending unit that I wanted to use the fuel gauge (I guess that is what you would call it) in the SG. As a side affect of setting all this up on the fuel side, I found it measures your fuel economy. It appears to give a great amount of information but I am still learning. Until I get a few miles on it I won't believe any accuracy but just the indication that the way I drive and the speed I drive was costing me in fuel. I have made a few changes and according to the lie-o-meter (Scan Gauge Lol!) I have gone from around 6.5 MPG to just over 9 MPG. Until I get some run time on it I have no idea how accurate this is. My hope is getting the correct reading of the amount of fuel left in the tank and that the SG will be much closer to when I need fuel than the gauge. The gauge on the MH will show just over 3/4 tank and when fueled up will take around 60 gallons. Not very close on 100 gallon tank. I am scared to death to let it go much lower than that. I would like to hear any first hand experiences from people that have the SG D and what their experience with it is. Also any tips, tricks and X gauges you have found to be of value.

The only gauge I found to be wrong was the boost pressure. It has never registered more than about 5PSI. Scangauge shows it correctly.
Other gauges are pretty accurate including the fuel gauge.
Before I got the SG, I was keeping detailed records on fuel. My manual calculations revealed between 8 & 9 MPG. After a few trips with the Scangauge, it agreed pretty closely with my calculations so now I just rely on SG.
I sent my X-Gauge listing to Scangauge and they responded with 3 additional X-Gauges:
Cruise Control set speed (MPH)
Transmission output shaft speed (RPM)
Power Take Off Set speed (RPM) Who knew?

So now, I'm looking for a plow to hang off the back... Maybe make some cash on the side...

Rofl! Too funny! My annual calculations on fuel have been between 7 and 8 mpg but I just don't have enough runtime yet to know the SG accuracy. I'm glad to hear yours is very close. Gives me confidence in mine. Your extra gauges are of almost no value to me but I'm sure they are to farmers but I don't need to grind any feed! Lol!

Thanks,

Alan
