Question Seat Belt Use By Adults (non-Front Seat)

For those of you who routinely carry more than just your co-pilot, I'm really curious about how many of you use/require seat belts...or require they "sit" in designated seats? (NOT referring to co-pilot, who should be belted as well as the driver!)

I'm not talking about those under 18, but specifically those 18 and older.
Do you allow them to lay on the bed while underway?
What about laying down on the couch?
Sitting in a non-secured chair or recliner?

While I don't believe it's required by law (same as bus requirements, yes?) I was curious about your typical habits.

Please share!

Our son used to lie on a couch playing video games. Probably not the best thing to do.

You may want to look this site over as to what might be allowed by law and what might not be and for each state:
Seatbelt Laws
Of course you may want to double check with the states as the information may have changed or about to change.

Adults are old enough to figure it out for themselves. were all grown ups here and well enough able to make decisions for ourselves!

If your over 18 sit any place you want!

We have a 40' DP, and allow guests to move around cautiously.
Like we did on the boat, one hand for you, the other hand
for the coach. When in traffic, or on roads with traffic lights,
we generally ask everyone to remain seated. We only use
seat belts in the front driver and passenger seats.

If anyone is in our boat they will have on a PFD whenever we are under way.
If they are in our motor home or car, they will be seated and seat belted.

My rule: Unless they are sleeping on the bed (And I';d like to add a navy style "Tie down" for the bed) they are in a seat with a belt save for short term (Such as going to the head or getting a drink of water) and if at all possible those activities are done in a parking lot (Rest stop).

Of course I have seen the result of not wearing seat belts far too many times, Far Far too many times. And I never cared for that message that started out:

Reference Fatal Accident # 29-#####-year.

And I typed far too many of 'em.

Not sure of the actual wording of the law in NC, But the overhead Highway lighted signs read that all passengers in a vehicle must wear seatbelts.

Lap belts for person sitting sideways to forward of vehicle seems a bit dangerous to me. Only seating we have behind the cockpit with belts are sofas.

I never wear the seatbelt and the DW often goes back to the kitchen to make snacks or lunch while we're rolling along. Not a big deal.
