Security while camping..
I've read a lot of threads but I have not seen any for addressing security with motorhome while camping or boondocking. It's a different world out there and I would like to know what you seasoned rv folk do for security. Alarms, carry concealed weapon, dogs etc.
Thanks

Don't you need a license or permits to carry across state lines?

Some states consider your car, truck, camper, to be extensions of your home also. In those areas, you don't need a permit for the gun within your camper.
Here is a start, but sometimes, you need to read the source documents for each state:
Handgunlaw.us
gunlaws.com - State by State Firearms Laws

Some of the same tools I carried while walking in harms way: discerning eyes, sense of alertness and a ton of common sense.
I always felt that if you need guns to be there, you don't need to be there.

It's called situational awareness. Predators are looking for complacency and easy victims. In 35 years of law enforcement, I've been lots of places I'd rather not be. I also have my 14 lb. schnauzer and a Glock in my pocket.

Rem. Pump 20 gauge. Just the sound of a round being "racked" into the chamber is usually a good enough warning of whats to come next.

Do you guys that carry firearms in your RV leave them at home when you go to national or state parks where firearms are prohibited? Or, do you just avoid places that prohibit firearms.

I always carry concealed as long as I am in a state that honors Florida concealed carry law. I also have an alarm installed in my RV...just in case!

Been 5 years full time so far. When we started, I though about protection. Gun? Decided not to. Probably would never use it but if I did, then dealing with any aftermath would not be fun. I was walking around Cabela's in SD when we were there and saw a big can of Bear Spray. Shoots like 30 feet or more and will drop a charging bear. Perfect. If anything goes down, I can use the spray and drive off.
5 years later and not one issue in campgrounds, rest areas and Wallys.
