Like in a home inspection.. if a home inspector "misses something" your limit of claim is to the cost of the inspection. Can you go back and sue or ask for your money back when they miss something in a "house inspection"?
Also the big things like brake hoses, transmission, fridge burn out... are things that you can not see in an inspection. I am really curios to hear the feedback on this.

Ok, I'll bite.
99% of the time, experienced RVers will reply to a newbie like me to get it inspected by an independent inspector not associated with the dealer. Why? My guess is that purchasing an RV new or used is a crap shoot. All I can do is give myself the peace of mind that I did everything I could to get a good deal on a good rig. If it blows up in my face, it won't be because I didn't do my best to weed through the dishonest sellers private and dealers.
I know these inspections are not often worth the paper they are printed on. But having another set of eyes doesn't hurt. Hopefully the inspector will be honest and thorough. Thus the reason many newbies or experienced RVers seek RECOMMENDATIONS from others to try and get someone who did a good job for someone else.
Hopefully they will have experience with RV systems and can point out some of the things we are blind about due to excitement or inexperience.
We know there is no recourse - just trying to get some help.
FYI - my dealer has said some things that they were going to do. I knew what they were saying made little fiscal sense for them. But I let them do their thing and they found and fixed some issues. My inspector for the chassis and dot inspection found things the dealer either didn't look for or didn't want to fix. Now I can approach my dealer with these issues and negotiate or walk away.
Probably saving me several thousand dollars for this 200$ inspection.
I wish I could have found a decent RV inspector - I am on my own right now. I have tried to do my best but fear it isn't going to be good enough. My dealer seems to be willing to work with me on several issues and I am grateful for that, but given the horror stories I will likely never feel fully confident in my choice - especially when I have to fix something major.
Hope this helps. Denver is a big area and haven't found a good inspector. Sounds like a great business opportunity for a knowledgeable person.
