Self deployed LCI levelers update

After replacing the pump. motor, touch pad and wire harness and spending over $3500, no one can explain how the levelers deployed by them selves while driving on the freeway. I nice polite letter to Jayson Lippert resulted in a phone call from Michael Locke. After he explained that it must have been an electrical short (what about the over ride safety features like the parking brake not being engaged?) and because I am not the original owner, there is nothing they can do(can or won't?). In other words, sorry tough luck!

I have installed a dead man switch so that the pump motor can not run unless I want it to.

Interesting post. A lot of the bigger 5th wheels have lippert hydraulic leveling systems. How does the driver in the pickup know that his hydraulic jacks have deployed if they do this.

A potential cause for the pressure loss, if you haven't seen any obvious leakage, could be fluid bleeding through the block between the reservoir and electric motor. I had this issue, almost set the rig on fire. What happened was that the shaft that connects the motor to the pump didn't have a seal installed. As a result when under pressure fluid would incrementally flow back into the electric motor. It did this until there was enough oil to nearly catch fire. I shut it down while the smoke was escaping, but was on the verge of disaster.
The rectification was to replace the power pack. The new one had a seal on the shaft.
A classic case where a bad engineering decision to not install a 50 cent part, the seal, could have had catastrophic results.
