Selling a motorhome

Has anyone had any luck selling your motorhome? I have a 40' American Tradition and need to sell... I have posted it on RV Trader but the only responses I have had are from other websites wanting to help me sell it, for a fee of course. Any success stories or recommendations on where to advertise?

Have you talked to PPL? They are a very large US RV Consignment dealer that seems to have a pretty good reputation. Just Google PPL

Sold two in the last 14 months. One in a consignment lot sold in three weeks and just sold another in 4 weeks on the TRVN site.
I am sure that price and condition are extremely important.

Try RVT.com. I sold my motorhome in 2 weeks & had 3 serious buyers.

Well I bought one so the seller sold one

It's a buyers market and there is a good supply of older motorhomes out there - so if yours is 10 years old or more then be realistic on the price you expect to get for it. Otherwise you just won't get the nibbles.

I hear < 10 year old rigs are getting improved prices as the economy improves.

Have you listed it here at irv2.com? How about escapees.com; MH's advertised there seem to sell rather quickly. They did while we were shopping anyway. Hopefully the irv2.com staff has corrected their classified section snafu by now.

I have to wonder how much less the motorhomes I see advertised actually sell for compared to their asking prices. Just from some not so scientific observations it seems most seem to be priced from ten to twenty thousand on the high side to actually sell. I also know a fellow who bought a motorhome and a few months later decided he would rather have a fifth wheel and he was offered twentyfive thousand less than his purchase price. He was of course quite disappointed with this but after six more months trying to sell he finally sold it at a loss, not as bad as the offer but still significant.
I have been thinking of selling my present coach as well once I get all the little demons out and figuring out an asking price seems to be the hardest part of the process. Seems like quite a balancing act between price and quick selling.

PPL has a list of recently sold motorhomes, and the selling price's. I found it to be helpful when we were looking to buy.
