Serrano vs Sprinter
We started with a Winnie View. Kept it for one year and traded for the Serrano. Why the trade? You have to be comfortable in an RV both traveling and when stopped. The Sprinter rode like what it is - a converted delivery van. The seats were only comfortable for a couple hundred miles and it was very noisy inside going down the road. On the other hand, it was very easy to drive. But I like to do 500 mile days here out west and the Sprinter was just too darned uncomfortable to ride in that long.
View over the Serrano:
Quality, quality, quality. Nothing ever broke in the Winnie. It never leaked. Everything worked as advertised. Maneuverability. You could put that thing anywhere easily. It was like driving a large van.
Serrano over the View:
Ride quality. Less noise, less bounce, better seats, less wind noise. Storage. The Sprinter models have incredibly little storage area. We had to carry our golf clubs in the shower! Serrano has tons of storage area. Bedroom. We finally decided that we were getting too old to either climb a ladder into a little space or fold down a bed every night. Living room. The ability to turn the cab seats around and make the cab part of the living area is a big deal. Didn't think it would be, but it is.
Last thoughts: I think that Winnie & others are really pushing the power and weight limits of the Sprinter chassis. You could tell in how hard the engine worked, how little carrying capacity you had, and how hard the suspension banged going down the road. Winnie has since introduced the class A version (the Via) where they concentrated on getting the weight down and the comfort level up. Storage is still a concern, but it is better. If you decide to go the Sprinter route, I'd drive the Via before making up your mind.
