Richard, use your scan gauge to reset. If you don't have one, they're only about $35.00 at the auto parts store. You can also use a paper clip, but I don'e remember what pins to touch. Eddie Elk.

Richard, it also helps to put a description of your unit in your profile, such as what engine, chassis, toad that you have. Eddie Elk.

It probably depends on whether it is a Ford or Chevy/Workhorse chassis. Each manufacturer has a procedure, which may involve using the OBD connector and a paperclip jumper.

Removing the battery negative cable for 30-60 seconds usually works for all of them, though. It's easy enough to be worth a try.

Have you fixed what caused the light to come on?

I don't know if AutoZone can help but their scan service is free for cars and light trucks and in most cases they can reset the CEL and tell you what turned it on. They use the OBD connector.

If the Service Engine Soon light is amber, that doesn't mean it needs an oil change. It means there is a electronic engine control fault that needs to be attended to.

A code will be stored and if something simple like loose gas cap, it will go out on its own. Otherwise it needs fixing.

Cheap scan gauges will not reset faults only read. Yes you can unhook battery to clear, but unless you fix problem it will come back on.
