It really can complicate things. I don't know a good way around it. Bricks and mortar dealerships (at least many of them) are really at odds with online sellers. Often folks assume buying an RV with a warranty is like buying an automobile, but it really is very different.

I think if owners could actually see what has to take place to get warranty reimbursement, it would give more insight into why obtaining service can be difficult. Of course, if quality control and serviceability ever became reality, there would be much less concern about warranty coverage, but that is a whole other conversation.

Steve,
I will agree with most of what you say. I guess we are one of the exceptions as we love warranty work at our dealership. For it to be successful, the dealership has to be set up properly, or as you say, the requirements to be reimbursed can overwhelm.

We are the largest dealer in our area by far, and we have 3 people who do nothing but handle warranty claims. Each manufacturer has their own little nuances, and some give better flat rates than others. From my experience you can look at how manufacturers are regarded in the RV community as far as reputation, and apply it to warranty claims as well.

The biggest frustration we have is some manufacturers not willing to pre authorize a repair. We have got burned on this more than once by spending countless hours on a repair only to be authorized a third of the hours AFTER the repair has been completed.

Brian,

I know there are exceptions and I agree, you really have to be set up to do warranty work. I am independent and do work for two small used dealerships and run mobile for the largest one in our area. Have survived doing it for 20 years and am just winding down. It seems every time I try to make an exception, I have gotten burned. Can't tell you how many calls from Good Sam I have turned down, along with many others.

The disheartening thing is I know it doesn't have to be this way! :(

Isn't that the truth! The worst part is it would be so simple to do it the right way.

There are plenty of good independent service repair shops that perform warranty work it's should not be an issue.
