Mine is all curled up in the wet bay which I don’t like cause the fresh water and outside shower is in there too.
I like the simple answer of a plastic container. Take it out of the basement and use what you need. Hose caps sound like a great idea too.
Lysol is a good idea too.
I think I have a plan.

I found two storage tubes one on Ebay and one on Amazon. I purchase one years ago and mounted under the bottom of a Class C, it worked well.

Some of this depends on the design of your RV.

I have 3 additional "Long" storage places
A 4: hose. was not big enough to hold the sewer hose fittings so I use it for other "Rod" storage.. I have assorted "Rod" stock in that one.
A 6" PVC pipe just over 8' long it sits undr the rear "Cut" of my Damon (See any Damon intruder for the "Cut" it's very steep on this model) and behidn that is a 7" square vinyl fence post. the last two hold hoses. aroudn 50 feet of hose total.

On some RV's the way I mounted mine wont' work so the owner put in a pipe "length wise" between the frame rails

On others he put in a "Sweep" elbow and loads from teh sidek but the hose turns and goes lengthwise.

all of these are great solutionsk though I liek the "Straight" ones better.

Plus what the folks above posted.
