Shock replacement 1995 Itasca

1995 Itasca Sunrise 23R class A needs front shocks but I can't identify the type of retainer used on the upper mount. It's multi pointed but not like any "nut" I've seen before. Can anyone help with identifying it and some insight into how it comes off? Thanks from Paul in sunny and warm Tucson.

That isn't a nut that's in your picture. That's the end of the stud. Look on the other side of the frame and you should see the nut.
